A spate of burglaries has prompted police to ask people in Blyth to secure their sheds.
Officers are warning the public to check their sheds and garages are secure to prevent theft of items such as lawn mowers and bicycles now the warmer weather is here.
The warning comes after a number of burglaries to sheds and garages in the area, the latest being a bike that was stolen from a garden shed in Blyth overnight between Tuesday, May 11, and Wednesday, May 12. Thieves took a BMX bike from a garden shed in the back garden of a house in Kingsway.
A shopper chased a mugger and reclaimed her bag after he snatched it off her in Bondicar Terrace.
The 59-year-old woman was walking towards shops on Bondicar Terrace when she was approached from behind by a man who snatched her bag and started running off.
The woman chased after him and screamed at the thief who dropped her bag and then fled towards Waterloo Road.
Burglars walked into unlocked houses in Blyth, took car keys then drove away.
Police are looking for information following two burglaries in which cars were taken.
The first burglary happened between 1pm on Friday, February 19, and 1am on Saturday February 20. Thieves entered a house in Melville Avenue, stole a set of car keys from inside the house and then took the owner's black Audi A4 estate, which was parked in the driveway. The car is still missing.
