Blyth lifesavers save best for nationals

Blyth Lifeguard and Swimming Club made a double splash at the National Lifesaving Finals at Pond Forge, winning two of the age group events.

Jake Power and Aidan McGuire claimed the junior boys' pairs title, finishing first in their aquatic Incident discipline, second in life Support, second in the swim and tow and fourth in the line throw.

Holly Mitchell and Charley Gourley came sixth in the junior girls' pairs.

Amy Wilkinson and Antonia Reay won the senior girls' pairs, being first in the aquatic incident, second in the life support, fourth in the swim and tow and 10th in the line throw.

Dale Irvine and Callum Milburn claimed fourth spot in the senior boys' pairs.

Greg Douglas and Jordan Saddler were fifth in the senior boys' pairs.

Chrissie Butcher took 13th in the ladies individual, Simon Bradshaw finishing in the same position in the men's individual.

Paul Riley ended up sixth in the 30-39 age group masters, while Linda Taylor won the 40-49 age group masters.

The North East team of Amy Wilkinson, Simon Bradshaw, Chrissie Butcher and Matthew Milton came fifth in the SERC competition.

Callum Milburn was awarded the Dorothy Cadbury Trophy for the most improved competitor over a period of years within the Championships.
