Blyth takeaway bid looks set to fail

Posted by The Journal on Dec 23, 08 10:54 AM in News

A bid for a Blyth restaurant to also function as a hot food takeaway looks doomed to failure.

Planning councillors in Blyth Valley are being recommended to refuse an application from Scaramangas restaurant to remove a condition of the original planning permission blocking the sale of hot food to be eaten off premises.

The popular eating place in Cowpen Road opened more than two years ago and the original application was for a hot food takeaway and restaurant.

But after a site visit by councillors, approval was given only to the restaurant.

Blyth Valley Council's development control panel will meet on January 6 to consider the new bid.
